Roy Thomson first began his career as a financial advisor in 1968. He believed a diversified, liquid and transparent investment vehicle such as a mutual fund was best for his clients and would enable them to have security and prosperity over the long term. In 1975 he became a fully-independent financial advisor working with many different fund companies. This independence enabled him to recommend investment managers and funds he believed were best for his clients.
In 1994 Roy’s son Stuart joined the business following a successful career at a large Canadian telecom manufacturer. In 2004 the firm relocated to 450 Frederick Street in Kitchener – centrally located for clients visiting the office from anywhere in the tri-city area.
In 2015 Stuart invited Craig Allison to join the firm after having worked with him as a business partner for over twenty years including fourteen years at Trimark (now Invesco).
In late 2015 the firm changed its trade name to Thomson Allison Financial Solutions – a new name to better support our long-standing, enduring relationships.
Today, Thomson Allison continues to operate as a financial advisory practice that provides independent financial advice. We are a small firm by design – believing that our size enables us to remain focused on what’s most important – the financial success of our clients. Thomson Allison is a financial advisory practice that provides independent financial advice. We are registered through FundEX Investments Inc., a mutual fund dealer and a division of IA Financial Group, Canada’s fourth-largest insurance company.
